Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 26, 2026

Laagadh Pvt. Ltd. ("Laagadh," "we," "our," or "us") — a private limited company registered in India — operates the Muhoort mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Muhoort, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have over your information.

By using Muhoort, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

For any questions or to exercise your rights under this policy, contact us at info@muhoort.com.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account details: user ID, email address, full name, gender.
  • Birth details: date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth (city or region with associated coordinates). Muhoort uses these to compute personalised muhoort (auspicious-time) predictions; the core feature does not work without them.
  • Calendar events: events you create in Muhoort — title, description, location, start and end times, recurrence rules, reminders, categories, and the calendar (Muhoort, Google, or Outlook) the event belongs to.
  • Chat messages: the questions you ask Muhoort and the running conversation history, used to generate AI responses.
  • Feedback: ratings, category selections, and comments you submit through the daily feedback flow, used to understand how to improve the app.
  • Calendar permissions: if you connect a Google or Outlook calendar, we receive the OAuth tokens needed to read and write events on your behalf for the calendars you select.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and app: device identifier, platform (Android/iOS), operating system version, app version. Used for authentication, troubleshooting, and version-aware notices.
  • Approximate location: your device's GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude), used to compute muhoort predictions for your local time and place. We only update the stored location when your position changes by more than 10 km, to minimise battery and bandwidth use.
  • Place name: we send your coordinates to Radar.io (a geocoding service) to translate them into a human-readable place name (e.g., "San Mateo, US"). Radar.io receives only coordinates and no other account details.
  • Push tokens: if you grant notification permission, we may receive a push token from Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) or Apple Push Notification service (iOS). The token does not identify you personally; it lets us deliver notifications to your device.
  • Diagnostic logs: if the app encounters an error, we record a short log excerpt and a non-sensitive context (the last few app actions) for debugging. Sensitive fields such as access tokens and passwords are redacted before logs are saved or transmitted.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the core features of Muhoort — muhoort predictions, calendar display, calendar sync.
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • Sync your calendar events with Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook on the calendars you have authorised.
  • Generate AI conversational responses tailored to your context.
  • Deliver notifications you have asked to receive.
  • Diagnose and fix bugs, monitor service health, and improve features.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

What we do not do: we do not use your information for advertising, we do not sell your information to third parties, and we do not share your information with anyone except as described in the next section.

Sharing and Third-Party Services

We share your information only with:

  • Google Calendar / Microsoft Outlook Calendar: when you connect a calendar provider, we exchange events between your account and that provider for the calendars you select. Their use of your data is governed by their respective privacy policies.
  • Radar.io (geocoding): receives your GPS coordinates to return a place name. Receives no other personal details.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push Notification service: receives push tokens and message payloads to deliver notifications. We minimise the personal content placed in notification payloads.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers: the servers that run our backend and the language-model service that powers the AI chat. These providers process your data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only as we instruct.
  • Authorities and legal: if required to comply with a valid legal request from an Indian or applicable foreign authority, or if we believe in good faith disclosure is necessary to protect rights, prevent fraud, or address an immediate threat.
  • In a business transaction: if Laagadh is acquired or merges with another company, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you before this happens and ensure the new owner is bound by terms at least as protective as this Policy.

Data Storage, Retention, and Security

Your data is stored on servers operated by us or our hosting providers. Some providers may be located outside India; where this is the case, we use contractual safeguards to ensure protections at least as strong as those required by Indian law.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you request deletion (see "Your Rights" below), we remove your account and associated data within a reasonable period, subject to limited retention of records we are legally required to keep.

We protect your data using:

  • HTTPS encryption for all communication between the app and our servers.
  • Per-user authentication tokens with periodic rotation.
  • API keys for third-party services delivered to your device with device-specific obfuscation; the original keys live only on our servers.
  • Logs are redacted of sensitive fields (tokens, passwords) before being stored or transmitted.
  • Restricted internal access to user data on a need-to-know basis.

No system is perfectly secure. While we use reasonable measures, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you become aware of a security issue, please report it to info@muhoort.com.

Your Rights

Under the Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and other applicable laws, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: you may correct inaccurate or incomplete information through the app's settings, or by contacting us.
  • Erasure / account deletion: see the dedicated Delete Account or Data page for full instructions on deleting your account, or removing specific categories of data (calendar connection, location, chat history, etc.) without closing the account. In short: email info@muhoort.com from your registered email address with your user ID and the subject "Account deletion request."
  • Withdraw consent: you may withdraw consent for optional processing — for example, by disconnecting a calendar provider, denying location permission, or revoking notification permission. Some withdrawals may limit or disable the corresponding feature.
  • Grievance redressal: if you have a concern about how your data is handled, contact us at info@muhoort.com. We will acknowledge and respond within the time frame required by applicable law.

Children

Muhoort is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact info@muhoort.com and we will take steps to delete the information.

If you are between 13 and the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use Muhoort only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page and, for significant changes, notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of Muhoort after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
